Heart Attack Symptoms

August 13, 2010

The first and only symptom of a silent heart attack could be sudden death! A study found that death rates from silent heart attacks were the same as those from non-silent heart attacks. Silent heart attack symptoms are not typical as heart attacks go - a silent heart attack is very hard to detect and are usually detected long after the event through a careful study of medical history, ECG (electrocardiogram; measures heart activity) and testing blood for cardiac enzymes.

Both women and men may have "classic" chest discomfort, pressure or tightening that grips the chest and spreads to the shoulders, neck or arms. However, women can also experience: abdominal discomfort/indigestion burning sensation in the chest or upper abdomen.

For women symptoms can be thought of as an anxiety attack or panic attack. These symptoms are often brought about with a feeling of something being wrong. Discomfort, fatigue, sweating and clamminess are all symptoms that are frequently experienced and ignored because they aren't earth shattering.

Those at risk for silent heart attack include diabetics, who are more prone to this type of attack, as well as women, the elderly, and those diagnosed with having heart disease. Presently, there are no clear cut guidelines for the treatment of patients who exhibit signs and symptoms of having a silent heart attack, or Non Q-Wave UMI, but recent clinical studies have been conducted to help find an appropriate treatment.

Uneasiness in the chest is one of the regular symptoms in both the genders. This discomfort may or may not be frequent, in general these attacks start off mildly and slowly become more intense. You must keep in mind not to neglect the mild pain in your chest region.

Most people experiencing the pain say that it is more like their chest is being squeezed or like there is weight placed on the chest. Some say that they knew they were having an attack because of the intensity of the pain.

The most important thing you have to do when trying to stop anxiety is to relax! If you can clear your mind and relieve it from stress you substantially reduce the chances of having anxiety heart attack symptoms. One thing that can help you relax is the knowledge of anxiety and why it's caused. You should consider researching what causes panic and anxiety attacks.

Other times, you may not see any rationalization for why you are experiencing a panic attack. Often, just the idea of having panic heart attack symptoms can trigger one. What's most urgent is to realize what your body is doing, and to try to identify what's driving you to feel concerned and fearful.

Heart attack symptoms that are important to noteworthy of are chest pain and shortness of breath. Chest pain most especially remains the most important presenting heart disease symptom, it is however important to state that not all chest pains are heart diseases. No! There are numerous conditions, unrelated to the heart that could give rise to chest pain. These are: Anxiety, pneumonia, pleurisy, peptic ulcers, infection, heartburn, gall bladder, indigestion etc.

Depression is ugly and puts tremendous strains on a marriage, especially if you are not sure the condition exists or even how s...
